Positive Attitude
Why Do Some Affirmations *Work* - and Others Dont?
By definition,an affirmation is a statement repeated time andagain either verbally or mentally-or written down. The wordsof the affirmation statement - in themselves -when spoken, thought of, or written *without* a pictorial (visualized) oremotional connection- make a very weak affirmation.
Affirmations, when worded correctly -- and when emotionallycharged - are able to tap into the unlimited creative power ofyour subconscious mind, and manifest your desires.
The Use of Affirmations
What is an affirmation? One possible definition is a specific positive thought that you create in response to a current need or goal. We need to continue repeating the affirmation until it becomes a part of us, and we find ourselves believing it.
How do we go about this process?
1. Each person must decide for themselves what message they need to assimilate into their conscious mind.
P. M. A.
P.M.A - so what is it? Some people will automatically recognise this acronym - Positive Mental Attitude.
Yadda yadda... blah... blah.... some people think, but PMA should be likened to 'dieting'.
No, I haven't gone completely insane (not quite), but one major failure that many people are guilty of, is to overlook a common theme that links both PMA and dieting.
Affecting Positive Results Through Affirmations
Last time we talked about how to begin building the mind's powerful framework for success. The lesson we needed to learn was that self-talk has a powerful affect on the results we achieve. We learned that the mind will manifest whatever we dwell on, be it negative or positive.
This week, I would like to continue with our discussion of self-talk and suggest how you may supercharge your self-talk and the results you achieve through the use of affirmations.
How Tapping The Goodness Within Attracts Positive Change
If your life is difficult--if it's challenging, exasperating, and vexatious-- then it's time to tap the goodness within.
Your life can be another way--if you let it be. At some point, you simply decided that it was impossible to be happy. From that point on, you gathered evidence to prove your point.
Since everyone else, as far as you can tell, appears to be playing the same game of "Ain't It Awful," you don't get to feel left out as you continue to sabotage your reality.
Internet Tip of the Week: The Power of Positive Thinking
The late Norman Vincent Peale was a controversial preacher who burst into public consciousness with his best-selling book, "The Power of Positive Thinking". He believed that ordinary people could become really quite remarkable when they start thinking that they can do things, and when they believe in themselves, they have the secret of success.
Increasing Expectation Positively!
At your next staff meeting lead your team through the following discussion and exercise.
This exercise is focused on getting people to perceive things positively. The exercise goes like this:
Make the point to your team that they have the power to perceive virtually all things either from a positive or negative perspective.
Lead a discussion asking for attendees to offer up negative circumstances resulting from a well-known tragedy.
Be Positive
This may sound quite aberrant to most of the younger generations who are not really exposed to the personality development articles, books or motivational lectures.
Being positive does not indicate that we aren't able to handle a situation which is of abstruse nature. Being positive means, seeing the opportunity, seeing the best option that is available in any situation.
Anamchara - Beyond Positive Thinking
One of the most well known books ever written on success is James Allan's "As a man thinketh."
This book advocates thinking in a positive manner in order to create the life you dream of having. It suggests all you have to do is change your internal dialogue and you can begin to adopt a successful mind set. After an unspecified time you will then "have it all."
For some this approach has undoubtedly worked.
